The hit-and-run accident involving a state trooper on Friday took a strange Hamtramck twist.
According to sources, a Hamtramck man riding a motorcycle apparently grew impatient with a traffic tie-up at the scene of the accident at I-94 and 8 Mile and rode his bike through the accident scene as troopers were conducting their investigation.
No one was hurt in that incident, but the man’s transgression then lead to a high speed chase – at times reaching 140 miles per hour. The chase went from St. Claire Shores up to Royal Oak where troopers ended their pursuit because it became too dangerous.
However, troopers had the plate number of the bike.
Residents on Edwin St., just east of Brombach, called police to say the motorcyclist sped down their street the wrong way and parked his bike in the backyard of his house, chained it up, tore the license plate off and went into his house.
When trooper arrived, the man refused to answer the door or come out.

Troopers waited for three hours before a search warrant was issued. Once they were armed with the warrant troopers warned the man to come out peacefully or officers would force their way in.
The man still ignored officers and an entry was made without incident.
Troopers withheld the name of the man and details of the case pending the man’s arraignment.
The man’s motorcycle was taken away as evidence as well as a bag of clothing.
Neighbors said the man was new to the area. One neighbor, who declined to identify herself, said the man was helpful and kept to himself.
The trooper who was involved in the hit-and-run is recovering from injuries. The trooper was on his way to a funeral of a Detroit officer who was recently shot and killed during an investigation.
According to media reports the hit-and-run was the result of a road rage incident. No arrests have been made in that case.
