For those in Hamtramck still without power due to Friday’s high winds, hang on just a little while more.
Acting City Manager Kathy Angerer told The Review today (Sunday, May 6) that she has been talking with DTE Energy officials and expects (fingers crossed) power to be restored by the end of today.
There were several pocket areas in the city that were affected – including city hall.
Friday’s winds were clocked at 70 miles per hour, according to various media reports, and some 300,000 DTE customers were left without power. The outages included neighborhoods just outside of Hamtramck in Detroit.
Angerer said DTE is sending a “community van” to Hamtramck in an outreach effort to “talk with customers and see if any immediate needs” can be addressed.
The St. Florian neighborhood was spared from an outage, meaning the parish’s Strawberry Festival will continue today.
